Master Your New Year’s Resolutions
I like to review my goals yearly by using the 8 dimensions of wellness as a guide. The 8 Dimensions of Wellness are better explained in this youtube video: https://youtu.be/9T8EtpQ_3o4?feature=shared
The basic idea is to evaluate what are you currently doing good at? What are you needing more attention to? The 8 Dimensions are things we need to feel at peace and happy. Here is a cheat sheet guide I made:
My personal goals are: Physical: run at least two 5ks and improve my push-ups. Social: go to 1-2 warrior hikes in 2025. Financial: use an accountant for taxes and add my house to a trust. Environmental: build a desk from my walnut wood. Intellectual: finish my bachelor’s degree and take a massage continuing education class. Spiritual: visit a church with a gym friend. Emotional: keep attending therapy. Occupational: offer free add-ons and improve my email newsletters.
Free Add-on Of The Month in 2025
I hope you enjoyed my fun free add-on of hot stones in December. It inspired me to create a free add-on every month for 2025. My plan is to offer one extra thing each month so you can experience various modalities. Many people look at a menu of services and don’t understand the differences or benefits. My goal is to provide variety with a monthly focus, which will also help me become more proficient in using each add-on.
This winter quarter my plan is the following:
January: Essential Oil Massage
January I am offering a self-made essential oil blend. Did you know I am a certified aromatherapist through Aromahead Institute? I’d like to incorporate this more into my massage practice and would appreciate your feedback on it. I understand some may not want a lingering scent, but the offer is available in January as a free trial. (The blend includes Black Pepper oil, Rosemary, Lavender, Eucalyptus, and Frankincense in Jojoba oil.)
February: Hot Packs
In February, I aim to use hot packs more in my massages. Since it’s winter and cold outside, I think this is a great choice for the month. I heat my packs in a hydrocollator, which uses water. These packs offer deep moist heat to the muscles instead of dry heat, improving circulation and making them softer and easier to work with.
March: Warm Bamboo Massage
In March, I aim to utilize warm bamboo massage. I need to buy more pieces, but this goal motivates me to take action! Bamboo, a grass that heats well, is smooth and reminiscent of a rolling pin. I took the course years ago but had few clients interested. My plan is to revive it by offering a free month for people to experience it.
I have plans for the upcoming months and will announce them one quarter at a time. I’ve chosen ideas that fit the season and mood, such as rapid fire spray month (my favorite cooling spray), ice massage, more essential oil mixes, and a repeat of hot stone month. I’m also open to suggestions.
I wanted to write about the benefits of the essential oil mix, but I’m afraid that will make this newsletter to lengthy to read. I think I will make a printout for that instead.
Future Classes I’m Taking in 2025
I have sad news about lymphatic massage: the company I booked with has moved the course schedule again, so I asked for a cancellation and refund. I’m looking into other courses since that company wasn’t working for me. Unfortunately, I don’t have plans for lymphatic massage at the moment. Are there any modalities you’d like me to explore, such as shiatsu, myofascial release, or precision neuromuscular for TMJ or sciatica? Let me know!
Other Office News
I am also currently enrolled now at UWMilwaukee to work towards my bachelor’s degree. I decided to major in Biomedical Science. I am halfway through! Thankfully they transferred 60 credits of the 120 I need.
I am hanging up a “Self Care Board” In my office which has business cards for other businesses I recommend in the area. From personal training, chiropractic, aesthetician, estate/trust planning lawyer, website designer… That is also something new in my office!
Thank you all for an amazing 2024! I look forward to working with you in 2025. You make my job rewarding, and it’s wonderful to see you regularly. I appreciate your support for my business and allowing me to do what I love!
For funsies a little photo from my vacation 😊
